Once again, we are collaborating with Bula Neobistro on culinary cinema during Kosmorama!

We are delighted to welcome you to an unforgettable evening, featuring a screening of Chungking Express at Prinsen Cinema followed by a five-course dinner at Bula.

  • The film will be screened at Prinsen Cinema at 17:00.
  • After the film, guests will stroll over to Bula Neobistro.
  • The five-course menu will be served once everyone has arrived.

About the film:

Chungking Express is a vibrant, colorful love story told in two parts, set in a chaotic Hong Kong. In the first story, we meet a lonely police officer counting the days after a breakup by buying canned pineapples—until he encounters a mysterious woman in a blonde wig. In the second, we follow another heartbroken police officer, unaware that a lively café worker has fallen for him—and finds her own unexpected way of showing it.

The film captures a pulsating Hong Kong: narrow streets, steam rising from pots and broths, smoke drifting from charcoal grills, and a maze of tiny eateries and bars. With this backdrop, the film blends romance, melancholy, and humor. Director Wong Kar-wai lets the rhythm of the city and the coincidences of love merge into a cinematic kaleidoscope of light, color, and pop music. And California Dreamin’ by The Mamas & The Papas—playing all the time, every day, on repeat, non-stop.

Chungking Express is a film brimming with energy. Since its release in 1994, it has earned cult status and has been praised by critics and filmmakers alike, including Quentin Tarantino.

When the film ends, we’ll stroll 500 meters down the street to Bula. There, at “Bula Express,” you’ll be served a seductive five-course menu featuring flavours from Hong Kong combined with the finest local ingredients from Trøndelag.

It is also possible to watch the film without the dinner, at the regular ticket price (or with clip card/festival pass). These tickets will be released in February.

Here you can read more about why Reneé Fagerhøi, general manager of Bula Neobistro, chose this particular film.
