Together with Alvar & Maija, we invite you to a special screening of "Maija Isola - Master of Color and Form (2021)" on Thursday, March 7th.
The film will be screened at Nova Kinosenter at 17:00. Afterward, Alvar & Maija invite you to a post-discussion and mingling with light refreshments at their premises in Olav Tryggvasons gate 4.
Note: The event at Alvar & Maija after the film screening is only included in the "Film og ettersnakk" ticket.
About the film:
The Finnish artist Maija Isola (1927-2001) is best known for her global success as a fabric designer for the design house Marimekko. Inspired by the diversity of nature, Isola created fabric designs that softened the transition from rural to urban life and brought life and colour to the Finnish people after World War II. Today, her fabric designs have conquered the world, but who was Maija Isola, what were her values, and what artistic legacy has she left behind?
The film "Maija Isola" is an in-depth portrait of the Finnish artist of the same name. It explores questions about Isola's identity, values, and artistic legacy through diary notes and voice recordings from Maija Isola herself. At the same time, her daughter Kristina Isola serves as the narrator of the film, sharing the story of her mother from her perspective.

The film will be screened at Nova Kinosenter at 17:00. The post-discussion and mingle will take place at Alvar & Maija from 18:45.
