The film centers around young Hassan Kadam, who has always loved cooking. After fleeing from political unrest in Mumbai, the Kadam family arrives in a small French village and decides to open an Indian restaurant. The problem is that they’ve moved in directly across the road from the established Michelin restaurant belonging to the snobbish Madame Mallory, which leads to immediate conflict. Can the two restaurant owners be reconciled through their shared passion for cooking? The Hundred-Foot Journey is a story of family, xenophobia and not least, the love of food.
