The film centers around young Hassan Kadam, who has always loved cooking. After fleeing from political unrest in Mumbai, the Kadam family arrives in a small French village and decides to open an Indian restaurant. The problem is that they’ve moved in directly across the road from the established Michelin restaurant belonging to the snobbish Madame Mallory, which leads to immediate conflict. Can the two restaurant owners be reconciled through their shared passion for cooking? The Hundred-Foot Journey is a story of family, xenophobia and not least, the love of food.

The film screening will take place at Spontan with the food being served both during and after the film. The menu will consist of three entrees, three slightly larger dishes and one dessert. The staff at Spontan has spent a lot of time in France, which you will notice as soon as you see their wine list, which covers all the major French regions. The choice of this particular film was a no-brainer, as one of the chefs at Spontan has Indian origins. So this will be an experience where both Spontan and the guests will genuinely see a culinary bridge being built between these contrasting cuisines. The prospect is literally whetting our appetites!
