They enter a camp in the jungle while they further plan their escape back to Dakar. What happens there could never have been foreseen. They meet, among others, the old and kind leader Omar, the local police chief and mute woman Awa. The otherwise very close-knit trio of mercenaries is on shaky ground.

Saloum is a daring and stylish hybrid of action-horror, western, African mythology and supernatural thriller. Congolese Jean Luc Herbulot, responsible for both the script and direction, is inspired by films such as From Dusk till Dawn (1996) and Predator (1987). Saloum premiered during TIFF Midnight Madness in the fall of 2021 and is Herbulot's second feature film.
