Dieter Bachmann is an unorthodox and charismatic teacher at a school in a small German town. His classroom is a world in miniature, where students with varying cultural backgrounds share different opinions and attitudes. Bachmann uses these contradictions to inspire and trigger the curiosity of youngsters.

It highlights the importance of education - not merely because of what the syllabus teaches you, but also because you learn to understand each other. This is an immersive documentary of three and a half hours that provides an insightful picture of how to respect each other despite differences. Rarely has pedagogy been portrayed more interesting on film than here.
