Maria Speth has made an observational documentary reminiscent of Frederick Wiseman's films (City Hall, 2020), with the main difference being that Speth is more concerned with individuals and the relationships between them.

Mr. Bachmann and His Class is an affectionate and inspiring film about being human. It highlights the importance of education - not merely because of what the syllabus teaches you, but also because you learn to understand each other. This is an immersive documentary of three and a half hours that provides an insightful picture of how to respect each other despite differences. Rarely has pedagogy been portrayed more interesting on film than here.
