Black Bear

At a secluded house by a lake, a couple entertains a young filmmaker and their already faltering relationship is further destabilised by her arrival. The filmmaker runs a calculated game of desire and jealousy in search of inspiration for her next project, stretching the boundaries between fiction and autobiography.

Audrey Plaza gives an impressive performance in the lead role, and director Andrew Michael Levines proves to be an exciting filmmaker to keep an eye out for in the years to come. Black Bear is his fourth feature film, an absorbing thriller comedy best seen without too much prior knowledge and expectation.
