"Seven Winters in Teheran" tells the gripping story of 19 year old Reyhaneh Jabbari, who, during a business meeting, is victim of an attempted rape where she defends herself by stabbing the attacker. This leads to her unjust conviction of murder. Through her own recordings we gain insight into her prison ordeal while awaiting the death penalty. Simultaneously we follow her family’s relentless battle on the outside to secure her release.
Reyhaneh’s story exposes the harsh injustice faced by women who attempt to defend themselves against rape, only to be condemned to death by a legal system that should protect victims. The film delves into themes of resilience, injustice and the quest for redemption as Reyhaneh's fate hinges on the forgiveness of the deceased's family.
Reyhaneh’s mother, Shole Pakravan, will share her experiences at our seminar “Woman.Life.Freedom - A Global Perspective” Tuesday September 3rd at Feministhuset.
