Experience this year's most energetic 100-year-old, The Gold Rush, at Nidarosdomen, while organist Ulrich Walther improvises on the cathedral's majestic Steinmeyer organ!

Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush is a beloved humorous classic, and now you have the chance to experience it in a truly unique setting! Combined with the powerful organ tones of Nidarosdomen, this will be a cinematic experience you won’t soon forget.

About the Film:

Three days from anywhere. A Lone Prospector.

A hundred years after its first release, Charlie Chaplin’s The Gold Rush is still one of his most critically acclaimed and beloved films. Chaplin plays “The Lone Prospector” (translated to Norwegian as "Den lille landstrykeren"), who must overcome numerous challenges—and people—to achieve his dream of wealth and prosperity in the American wilderness. The film featured impressive practical effects for its time, and when it was re-released in 1943 with a voiceover and music, it was nominated for two Oscars that same year. The humor, along with the recognizable tension, ensures that The Gold Rush remains one of Chaplin’s most cherished works.

The film is suitable for all ages.

About the Event:

Once again, we are repeating the success of the silent film concert in Nidarosdomen, with the same large screen as in 2024!

During the screening, organist Ulrich Walther will improvise on the cathedral’s majestic Steinmeyer organ. With the immense tonal range, Walther will uniquely color and comment on the silent film. This will be a grand experience of rare quality!

Doors open at 17:30.

The film starts at 18:00.

We will do our best to keep things warm and cozy throughout the silent film concert, but we recommend dressing warmly.

This event is part of the 21st edition of Kosmorama Trondheim International Film Festival, which will fill the cinema halls—and the entire city—from March 17–23, 2025!
