Mandagsfilmen 12. May is Souleymane's Story

In two days, Souleymane faces a crucial asylum interview — but he’s not ready.

Souleymane has emigrated from Guinea to Paris, where he works illegally as a bicycle courier. He has two days to prepare for an interview that could secure him asylum and a residence permit in France.

Director Boris Lojkine and lead actor Abou Sangare have created a gripping and humanist drama that immerses the audience in the hectic everyday life of undocumented Souleymane. We stay close to him during the decisive 48 hours, where the margins are razor-thin and the smallest event could cause his fragile existence to collapse.

Souleymane's Story has been a huge box office success in France and received both the Jury Prize and Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Lead actor Abou Sangare is 23 years old and came to France from Guinea at the age of 16. He has supported himself as a mechanic but has still not been granted a residence permit. “One of the goals of the film is to ask the question: What do we do with people who have worked and contributed for years in a country, but still haven’t been granted legal residence? When you live without papers, you’re always afraid and always stressed,” says Sangare.

Every Monday at 6:00 PM, you can see a quality film at Trondheim Kino in collaboration with Kosmorama.
