Hirokazu Koreeda is one of Japan's greatest filmmakers, and recognized worldwide for films such as the Palme d'Or-winning drama SHOPLIFTERS. BROKER is his first film made in South Korea.

This is a heartwarming and elegant drama that challenges established notions of what a family is. A new masterpiece from Palme d'Or winner Hirokazu Kore-Eda (SHOPLIFTERS).

BROKER (MIN VAKRE STJERNE) won Best Actor and the Independent Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The film also won the The Ray of Sunshine-award at the Norwegian Film Festival in Haugesund.

Sang-hyeon is the owner of a laundromat and works as a volunteer at the church where his friend Dong-soo works. The two also run an illegal business together: Sang-hyeon steals children from the church's Baby Box together with Dong-soo and then they sell the children on the black market for adoption. But when a young mother returns from delivering her child in one of the boxes, she spots them and decides to join them on a road trip to interview potential parents. This is a warm but bittersweet tale from the critically acclaimed Hirokazu Kore-eda about the family we choose and the family we let go of.
