Gagarine is an introspective and dreamy story that shows how easily one can judge both people and society based on the buildings they live in.
16-year-old Youri lives in the Gagarine building (Cité Gagarine) on the outskirts of Paris - a classic "Eastern bloc" residential complex which is about to be demolished. Youri has strong feelings about his home, and starts his own demonstration when he hears about the demolition plans. Together with friends Diana and Houssam, they begin various measures in an attempt to prevent the destruction of what Youri considers his "spaceship". After all, the film draws parallels to the name behind the Gagarine building: the cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.
