The Monday movie is Alt skal bort
Alt skal bort is the finest Norwegian film of the spring, a heartfelt dramedy directed by Arild Østin Ommundsen, known as the father of the Stavanger wave. Together with his frequent collaborator Silje Salomonsen, they previously achieved great success with the family film Tottori! Sommeren vi var alene and the NRK series Evy og alltid, which has been viewed by over 800,000 people. Now, they’ve written Alt skal bort, a coming-of-middle-age film about sibling love and family roles. Along for the ride is one of Norway’s most distinctive storytelling voices, featuring familiar faces from stage and screen, as well as music by Thomas Dybdahl.
About the Film
Three adult siblings reunite to empty their childhood home. What begins as a practical task soon turns into an emotional reckoning with old conflicts, unresolved memories, and questions about what truly matters in life. Through humor, vulnerability, and warmth, the film explores themes of family, inheritance, and identity – and how we find meaning in what’s left behind when life doesn’t turn out the way we imagined.
The film blends drama and humor, depicting the transition from being someone’s child to becoming the head of the family, with universal themes that resonate across generations.
