Those who know, know: you don’t need more than the few lines above to realize we’re talking about Dirty Dancing, if you’ve already seen this romantic 1987 film. Made on a modest budget, it struck a chord with audiences and became both a box-office hit and a classic.

Patrick Swayze is perfect in the role of dance instructor Johnny Castle, and Jennifer Grey is equally well cast as teenager Frances “Baby” Houseman. She arrives in the Catskills, New York, to vacation with her parents—unaware that this summer will become “the time of her life”...
