Welcome to the Edith Carlmar Symposium at Cinemateket on Thursday, March 20.
Edith Carlmar was Norway’s first female film director.
During Kosmorama, the Edith Carlmar Award is presented to a professional female filmmaker in Norway who has demonstrated integrity, fearless innovation, and a willingness to break boundaries. Established in 2010, the award honors Carlmar as a pioneering filmmaker. This year’s winner is film photographer Cecilie Semec. She will receive a grant of 50,000 NOK along with a reprint of an original Edith Carlmar film poster. The award will be presented at the festival’s Midtfest on Wednesday, March 19.
