Filippo Meneghetti’s feature-length debut is a touching chamber play about a secret love story – a situation recognisable for many, but seldom depicted on film.
Nina and Madeleine are two retired women who share neighbouring apartments in a block. They’ve been girlfriends for several decades, and their apartments are in reality one big flat. Madeleine has always wished to keep the relationship secret to her family, but promises to be open when the time’s right. But before she has the chance to speak to her family, she has a stroke and loses the ability to talk. When a nurse moves in to look after Madeleine, the double apartment is suddenly turned into two separate units, and the two women’s life together is turned upside down.
