Ruth Bader Ginsburg became the second female US Supreme Court judge in history when she was appointed in 1993 by President Bill Clinton. Now she is 85 years old but has no plans to retire in the near future. RBG depicts her struggle to establish herself in a formerly very much male-dominated profession, and how she has used the courtroom as a venue for revolutionary change in the field of equality. The film also talks about her fairly recent status as a pop-culture icon with the nickname «Notorious RBG»
RBG can in many ways be summed up by a quote by judge and feminist Sarah Grimké that Ginsburg recites in the film: «I ask no favor for my sex, all I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks». The film is nominated at the BAFTA Awards for Best Documentary and won the Best Documentary Award by the National Board of Review.
