Peshmerga is the end product after the French philosopher and filmmaker Bernard Henri-Levy followed the Kurdish defence forces known as Peshmerga for six months in 2015. The forces set out on a long trek along the front lines between ISIS-controlled areas and Iraqi Kurdistan. They share the title with the movie, and peshmerga can loosely be translated "those who confront death". With drone footage of the enemy in the distant and dramatic war scenes, including a General just seconds before he is killed, the documentary shows the Kurds' intensive battle for Kurdistan while simultaneously participating in a war with global consequences. Peshmerga is a tribute to the brave men and women in combat face-to-face with ISIS warriors against all odds.
