Setsuko is a single woman who lives a seemingly meaningless life in Tokyo. After being persuaded by her niece, Setsuko signs up for a somewhat unorthodox english class. Here, she receives a blonde wig and turns into her American alter ego, Lucy. The new identity stirs something in Sesuko, and soon her life takes an unexpected turn. She falls in love with her English teacher, and when he goes to USA with her niece, Setsuko follow them there. She learns of a new world filled with tattoo salons and shady motels. Family ties and cultural understanding is put to test, and Setsuko must fight to keep the dream about Lucy alive.
