Jonah Hills’s directorial debut, Mid90s is a coming-of-age drama set in Los Angeles in the 1990s. We meet Stevie, a young boy who is struggling to balance a troubled family situation with a new group of friends. These new friends are older and more experienced in everything that matters - skating, hip-hop, girls and getting into trouble, but Stevie is willing to learn and eager to fit in. Mid90s depicts, in an intelligent, warm and unadulterated manner, the lives of a group of teenagers who have already learned at a young age, that life can be brutal.
Mid90s is nominated for best feature film at Berlin International Film Festival, and has received praise at film festivals world wide since it’s world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival in September 2018.
