Although she is still very young, Fiona becomes the caregiver for her brother Tom, who has autism. She combines this with work on the local ferry and her musical ambitions. She realizes, however, that things cannot remain as they are forever. In Hurry Slowly, we follow her through the summer months, while she reflects upon her sense of responsibility, personal freedom and the future. Director Anders Emblem’s debut film is a quiet «slice of life» film, set in beautiful «Sunnmøre» surroundings.
Amalie Ibsen Jensen is convincing in the role of responsible Fiona. Like director Anders Emblem, she is a name to keep tabs on in the future. Hurry Slowly is part of Emblem’s Master’s thesis, and has in addition to Kosmorama, been screened at Tromsø International Film Festival in 2019.
