Candelria is a drama about a married couple from Havana in their seventies that decides to spice up their sex life with the help of a video camera. The film is a fresh take on stories about Cuba as it does not rely on the nostalgia, nor the political argumentation tied to Cuba’s history. It enlightens aspects of everyday life on Cuba that startle and provoke. The film won the Golden Lion at Venic Film Festival. The jury argued that the acting was outstanding and that the film takes several unexpected turns and is full of social engagement. The film is a co-production by Columbia, Germany and Norway. Dag Hoel from Trondheim is the Norwegian producer of the film.
