The somewhat uninspired author, Victor, is approaching the final deadline for a novel he has been working on for a long time, when he finds out he’s going to be a father. Faced with the seriousness of adulthood, the author finds escape from reality in a romance with next door neighbour, Valentina. She is beautiful, stubborn and at the tender age of just 16, far too young for 30-year-old Victor. He is, nontheless, captivated by her, distancing himself more and more from his pregnant girlfriend, Marcela. This politically incorrect Ecuadorian film gem is a bitter drama comedy about a man who seems intent on destroying everything for himself. The film is depicted beautifully in black and white.
Black Hole is director Diego Araujo’s second feature film. He has also written the film’s screenplay in collaboration with Norwegian producer, Hanne-Lovise Skartveit.
