Ryszard Kapuściński was a Polish journalist, essayist and author. Kapuściński worked most of his life as a war correspondent and was first and foremost known for his reportage books that combine significant events with personal reflections and a detailed account. Another Day of Life is based on Kapuściński’s memoirs from the Angolan struggle for liberation. With a combination of animation and vivid images, the film uniquely describes the war as seen through his eyes.
Kapuściński was, over many years, a war correspondent of the Polish news agency PAP (Polish Agencja Prasowa). For a long time, he was Poland’s only correspondent in Africa. His extensive coverage from Africa formed the basis for his fame, and the book «The Emperor», an account of the downfall of Haile Selassie, made him accessible to a wider audience. Director Damian Nenow (b. 1983) is an educated animator from the Polish Film School in Lodz and has previously directed short films such as Fly for Your Life, Miasto Ruin and Paths of Hate. The film’s other director, Raúl de la Fuente, has spent time producing both short and long films such as Gold Fever and I Am Haiti. Another Day of Life is the first movie these two made together.
