Last film show

Reality is best on film, according to an old saying amongst filmnerds - and it suits this film's main character well, the clever 9-year-old Samay. He lives with his parents under simple conditions, and is not like the other boys in the group.

One day he gets to know the ragged cinema engineer Fazal, who works at the cinema where Samay often escapes. With a bit of conviction, Samay gets the honor of becoming the new assistent in the engine room. For Samay it is a dream come true to get close tot he magic of putting in the 35mm-film in the machine, and see the light go to the theatre-screen - scenes that have been immortalized by the Italian classic Cinema Paradiso (1988).

For anyone who loves the culture of cinema this film is an incredibly beautiful love letter that charms, exites and mesmerizes. It is lovely to see the love and energy the young Samay invests in the battle to get inside the engine room of the cinema. The story is effectly told, with great production and a fantastic performance by the actor playing the boy.

The director himself, Pan Nalin, is a self-taught master of Indian film, known for films like Angry Indian Goddesses (2015) and Samsara (2001). His latest film celebrates the joy of having great film experiences in the cinema with full theatres and energetic atmosphere. Last Film Show is a gift to the experience of film.

The film will be shown in the original language with Norwegian subtitles.
It is rated PG-9. The duration of the film is 107 minutes.
