The inner political landscape of the Soviet Union is made in to a dark comedy in the new film from Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated director Armando Iannucci. Steve Buscemi and Jeffrey Tambor deliver great performances in the lead roles. The Death of Stalin takes us back to mars 1953. Joseph Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union, dictator and tyrant, takes his last breath. In the days evolving around his funeral, his inner circle fight for power and positions in a chaotic vacuum. The film is a satirical look on the madness and inhumanity that follows with a total regime, and everything is based on real events. The film has been recieved with some controversy as it treats one of the worst periods in European history with humor and satire. At the same time, several of the reviews have been positive and the film tells the story in a way that not only makes us laugh, but also gives an understanding of the gravity of the events.
