Killing Jesus is loosely based on the murder of director Laura Mora’s own father. The film tells the story of Lita, who witnesses her father getting shot and killed. She gets a glimpse of the killer before he speeds away on a motorcycle. Some weeks later, she sees him again at some nightclub. She walks up to him and introduces herself as Paula. Lita decides to stay in contact with the man, whose name is Jesus, while plotting her revenge. It all becomes further complicated as Lita gets to know Jesus while at the same time becoming dependant on his protection. Set to a violent and corrupted Medellin, Killing Jesus tells about Lita’s quest for revenge while at the same time thematizing socioeconomical problems in Columbia today.
