Thursday March 8th, we are screening two episodes of Home Ground. Actors John Carew and Emma Bones, producer Yngve Sæther, Kåre Ingebrigtsen, Karen Espelund, Julie Adserø and Michael Stilson will be present at the screening.
Home ground is about Helena Mikkelsen (Ane Dahl Torp) who becomes Norway's first top level female football coach.
The newly elected elite team Varg from Ulsteinvik lose their coach three weeks before the season starts. The club's sports manager has few options left and is unsure whether Varg's star player and ex-professional Michael Ellingsen (John Carew) is fit to take on the responsibility. Encountering Helena's iron cast will, he decides to throw caution to the wind and gives her the job. The problem however, is that Helena is a woman, and women do not train men in football. We follow Helena through the season where she has to win the respect of players who do not believe in her, fans who do not like her and a club who can fire her any minute. To add to her problems, she loses contact with the teenage daughter (Emma Bones) who has come along to Ulsteinvik.
When released Home ground was the first Norwegian television series on the official program at the Berlin Film Festival in February. The series starts on NRK on 4 March, when the first two episodes will be shown. At Kosmorama, we will be showing episodes 3 and 4, and we get to meet some of the creators behind the series after the show.
