This year marks the thirty year anniversary for the making of Cinema Paradiso. The Italian Oscar-winning film is a celebration of the art of film making, and soon became a favourite for many.
The film tells the story of a young Sicilian boy that becomes a projectionist. Years later, we meet young Sicilian boy again as the successful director Salvatore Di Vita. Salvatore hears about the death of his childhood friend Alfredo, and the memories come crashing in. Salvatore pictures Paradiso, the cinema where projectionist Alfredo ruled in solitude. When a fire made Alfredo blind, Salvatore started working for him in the cinema. Soon, a close friendship developed between the projectionist and his young assistant. But after some time, Paradiso was shut down and Salvatore left home, promising to never return.
