Mid Norway Film Market (Midtnorsk filmmarked) is the most important meeting place of the year for Trøndelag’s film industry, as well as anyone that’s interested in a closer relationship with central Norwegian film production. Here, local filmmakers present teasers from their latest films currently in production in the region. Specialists in editing, sound, music and effects are all represented and ready to show what they’ve been working on.
Mid Norway Film Centre (Midtnorsk Filmsenter) and Filminvest in cooperation with Kosmorama, invites the public, the press, students and politicians, business and arts to an eventful day dedicated to “trøndersk” film. The theme for 2017 film market was cooperation. Mid Norway Film Market takes place Thursday March 8th. from 9.30am until 4.30pm. This year, the film market will end with the filmpitch, Vårstigen.
Filminvest invests 2 million NOK on 2 regional feature film projects.
The region of Trøndelag, Oppland and Hedmark has developed an audiovisual industry with breadth and skill in the past 10 years. Our filmmakers receive prizes, their projects are taken to festivals and appear far beyond the country’s borders. However, the region lacks major feature film environments. To remedy this, Filminvest, in collaboration with Midtnorsk and Østnorsk film center, wants to launch the project “Vårstigen” – A shorter road to long film.
Vårstigen is a competition with precise qualification requirements where a 3-person jury chooses 4 projects that get pitched at Midtnorsk film market during the Kosmorama International Film Festival in March 2018. This will be this year’s film pitch at Kosmorama! We look forward to seeing the contributions. This will be incredibly exciting, and as a reminder: the big success Max Manus (2008) started out winning the pitch competition at Kosmorama.
We are very happy that Filminvest are betting even bigger on regional feature films now, and Kosmorama will be there every step of the way out to the big screen. A jury consisting of director Hallvard Bræin, producer Maria Ekerhovd and actor and director Cecilie Mosli, with Ingvild Bjerkeland from Filminvest as jury secretary, elects up to two winning projects.
The winning projects receive $ 750,000 each to develop their feature film. In addition, each winning project will be set up with mentors following them on script, marketing / distribution, and budget / funding. There will also be three workshops. The workshops are open to the entire industry in the region, while the mentoring scheme is reserved for the winners.
Applicants must be a team consisting of a qualified producer, director and scriptwriter where both sexes are represented. Producer and director must live and work in the region, and the project must tell a story with anchoring to our region. The registration has been opened, and for a complete list of criteria, see www.filminvest.no
The deadline for entering the Vårstigen Film Pitch 2018 was February 5th, and the call for entry is now closed.
The call for entry is now closed.
Filmmakers from around the world, with a portfolio of three feature fiction films or less, are eligible for entering their latest film into our main competition. Kosmorama’s programming committee, headed by the artistic director of the festival, will assess each submitted film for entry into the competition program. In addition, our programmers are actively searching for the most significant contemporary filmmakers, finally nominating a total of 12-15 feature films for the competition. An international jury of 3-5 members will view the selection during the festival and choose a winner. The deadline for submission was November 1st.
