Industry accreditation for Kosmorama 2018

The accreditation for film professionals and industry participants is closed for 2017. The link for registration will be announced here when Kosmorama 2018 is approaching.

About industry accreditation Included in the industry accreditation is access to all regular film screening, and exclusive og priority access to industry events and special events. In addition to full entry to the festival, we offer a full day of pitch awards, film market, thematic vorspiel and the Kanonprisen Award show, other prices for the events may apply. Kanonprisen

The Kanonprisen Award is the Norwegian film professionals’ own annual award, where the best of the best of last year’s Norwegian films are honoured by their own peers.

Members of the following associations vote for the winners of the various categories: Norsk skuespillerforbund, Norske filmregissører, Produsentforeningen, Filmforbundet, NOPA, Norsk komponistforening, Norsk filmlydforening, Norsk dramatikerforbund.

Members of eight associations, guilds and unions vote for awards in eleven different categories, in addition to one audience award:

Mid Norway Film Market (Midtnorsk filmmarked) is the most important meeting place of the year for Trøndelag’s film industry, as well as anyone that’s interested in a closer relationship with central Norwegian film production. Here, local filmmakers present teasers from their latest films currently in production in the region. Specialists in editing, sound, music and effects are all represented and ready to show what they’ve been working on.

Mid Norway Film Centre (Midtnorsk Filmsenter) and Filminvest in cooperation with Kosmorama,  invites the public, the press, students and politicians, business and arts to an eventful day dedicated to “trøndersk” film. The theme for 2017 film market was cooperation. The program for next year will be released when the festival is approaching.

New Directors

The call for entry is now open

Filmmakers from around the world, with a portfolio of three feature fiction films or less, are eligible for entering their latest film into our main competition. Kosmorama’s programming committee, headed by the artistic director of the festival, will assess each submitted film for entry into the competition program. In addition, our programmers are actively searching for the most significant contemporary filmmakers, finally nominating a total of 12-15 feature films for the competition. An international jury of 3-5 members will view the selection during the festival and choose a winner. The deadline for submission is December 1st.

Call for entry for Kosmorama 2018 
  • The 14th Kosmorama Trondheim International Film Festival will be held March 5.-11., 2018.
  • The call for entries for the International New Directors Film competition is open to works of any genre and language, of feature film length (minimum 70 minutes).
  • The film has to be the first, second or third feature film of the director.
  • The film must have been completed after January 1st, 2017.
  • Priority will be given to Nordic premieres. * Entries must be registered on our festival Visitor Page.
  • Entries must be submitted on DVD or Blu-Ray for our consideration. We will also accept online screeners.
  • Included with the entry there should be high-resolution film stills, portrait of the director, director biography/filmography and a short synopsis of the film.
  • Please mark your DVD and Blu-Ray with the title, length and contact information.
  • Our selection committee will take the programming decisions. If accepted, we will notify the filmmakers by e-mail. Films that are not accepted into the program will not be notified and we will not give any reason for a possible refusal.
  • Screening material submitted will not be returned. Please do not send original materials.
  • Notices of acceptance will be sent out no later than February 15th, 2018.
  • If a film is accepted, entrants are responsible for making sure there is a film copy available for screening.
  • Acceptable screening formats are in DCP (Digital Cinema Package) form. Other screening formats can be considered individually.
  • Films must be screened in their original language. If not in English, the film must be presented with English subtitles. If no English subtitled print is available, the festival will consider using an electronic subtitling system. If this is the case, a dialogue list in the original language and in English must be made available to the festival along with a DVD or Blu-Ray of the film in question.
  • It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to secure authorization and permission from the copyright owner(s) of any and all copyrighted content or materials included within the submitted Film.
  • The competition will have a jury consisting of three people who will assess all the films during the festival period and present the winner of the award on the final day of the festival.
  • The DEADLINE for submission is December 1st, 2017. Entries will not be accepted after this deadline. The DVD screener must be postmarked by this date.

New Directors: New Directors Awards is a competition where film creators from all over the world, who has not made more than three feature films, can sign up.

Kosmorama’s selection committee will consider all the signed up films and nominate films to the competition. The selection committee will also, by their own initiative, search for some of the significant contemporary film creators. The committee will nominate 12-15 films to the competition, and an international jury on 3-5 qualified members of the jury will consider all nominated films and award a winner. The deadline for entering the competition is December 1st, 2017.
